Many brides and grooms start planning their Connecticut weddings at least a year in advance. This doesn’t mean there won’t be a few loose ends to tie up during the countdown to the big day. While reserving the banquet facility and having the gown measures will surely be taken care of, there are some other details that tend to fall through the cracks when planning a wedding.

At The Riverhouse we want the wedding to be a moment to remember so we offer these last minute wedding tips to help.

  • Call Blitz the Vendors: You probably have a long list of vendors including caterers, florists and limo drivers. And chances are you have made appointments with them months in advance. Now is a good time to set aside an hour and call all the vendors to remind the date and time of your wedding. Many vendors get busy and some will lose track of details so it is always a safe bet to make one final check a week or two before the wedding.
  • Fashion Walk-Through: Just because you have the gown, bridesmaid dresses and tuxes ordered does not mean all will fit just right. Don’t wait until the day of your wedding to find out someone’s dress or tux isn’t fitting right. Do a dress rehearsal, literally, and have everyone wear their wedding attire to ensure nothing needs altering before the big day.
  • Double Check Accommodations: If you have guests coming from out of town, you want to make sure they have a place to stay. Some will end up with relatives while others will check into hotels and now is the time to make sure everyone is on the same page about where they are staying. The last thing you need on the eve of your wedding is aunts and uncles calling your cell phone non-stop because they don’t know where they are going. Verify the hotel check-in times and make sure your guests know where to go when they arrive in town.
